As the party walks, chatters, and looks over screens, a small hamlet becomes visible on the horizon. Rector looks up with a smile, and points at it. "And over there, we have.......wait-"
A few feet closer and the smoke rising from the houses is visible. At the same time, red cursors pop up in the distance. The system gives a clear alerting chime, and theres an immediate pop up from the journal screen. It seems activating it the first time auto-selected a notification mode. [Defend the Village!: Quest updated!] appears.
Rector lets out a pained sound. "No! The ratlings are attacking my village!" With that, he takes off at a run.
(ooc: Yeah, youre running with him, im not making another post just for you all to say "i run")
Upon reaching the village, flames are everywhere. The buildngs are set up in a general squared pattern, about 3 rows by 4, with larger buildings in the middle. But now, over half of them are burning. People are running in every direction, and there are bodies on the ground already. Rector, running ahead, vanishes into the large building in the center, despite the fire. And running throughout, human sized but not shaped, are hideous creatures. Dressed in rags, carrying sticks, heavy clubs, and in one case, a staff with a skull tied to it, are rat like creatures. They are covered in a coarse, scraggly black fur. Their eyes glow a bright red and their elongated jaws show jagged, crooked teeth. A quick glance suggets their numbers in the 20s. Half of them turn at your entering, and one, a taller one streaked with red paint or blood, lets out a chittering shriek. They charge.
Enemies:
Ratmen x 8 (club carrying, 4 charging, 2 setting fire to buildings, 2 chasing civilians)
Ratthugs x 4 (sharpened stick carrying, all charging)
Ratfolk x 12 (no weapon, 4 charging, 8 spread throughout the village)
RatMaster x 1(paint streaked, with staff of skull. Standing on top of the roof of the two story building in the center of town.)
OOC
All distances are relative, the area of engagement counting the town is about 100' radius. The charging ratbeasts are still 20' away at the furthest.
Combat has no order except that all players are to act before the turn ends. Turn order is at my discretion unless players deliberately coordinate actions, either in in-battle discussion(dont forget you can text each other if REALLY needed) or in referencing others moves in their post. Status of the players will be marked if it changes from healthy/100%. Now get to it!
