As the elemental fragment starts to try to lift her, Jane shakes her head and turns into a dragon. Not a big one as such things go; about four meters from nose to tail. Still, bigger than the fragment can lift. And with the fragment still trying to lift her by the tail, she turns to the stalker and prostrates herself. "I surrender. Please spare my life."

Though it seems she likes nightmares, the mind mage sleeping in the inn wakes up. She does remember that interesting dream. What she does with this memory is, of course, up to her.

Realising that the fragment's not going to be able to pick Jane up, Acorn calls it back. He doesn't dismiss it yet, though; if all else fails, he's pretty sure that it can carry him away faster than the psi-stalker can follow.

"Everyone's not dead yet? That's good,"

Alejandra swings her legs out from over the side of the bed. (Is it still dark?) She heads back down to the inn, thinking that another stiff drink might settle her dreams. If she sees anyone from the incident on the boats earlier in the inn, she'll head over and sit next to them.

The Psi Stalker knows that he would stand no chance against a dragon, and that this is a chance to break off and keep face.

"Leave our woods. Now. Or my people will hunt you down."

If the dragon assents, the Psi Stalker will forget the skull face humans and return to the tribe with all speed, and the Goddess will follow. He will have two things to tell his people: of his dream, and that there is a great prey in the woods, the death of which will spread word of the prowess of the Niagara tribe.

The dragon nods. "Yes. Thank you. I'm leaving." Then she gets up and starts to fly away to the west; soon turning into a bat.

Acorn only understands Jane's half of the conversation, which is enough to tell him that she's safe and the monster isn't about to eat her.

His thoughts immediately turn to himself and Zee. Taking the elemental fragment with him, he turns and heads in the direction that Zee was last seen travelling, trying to catch up; with an elemental fragment to carry him along, he's sure that he can catch up to someone who has to travel on the ground.

He quickly does.

The psi finds a borg and a...no, he isn't a dog boy, but he looks similar...warrior of some kind. Possibly a cyberknight? He has that kind of vibe. Anyway, the two of them look familiar from the lakeside earlier.

Acorn slows down to roughly Zee's speed. (Which could, of course, be zero).

"Jane - got away - safe." he says. "Not sure - where the - mage eater - is going. Can get - you far - away if - you want?"

(Yes, that's the name of the sub.)

Alejandra orders another drink.

"Hey, was that guy okay?" Alejandra asks the dogboy-ish creature and the cyber knight.

Zee looks at Acorn, and then shakes her head.

"No... I think I'll probably be safer in town. Thanks, though..."

She sounds a bit pensive, and after a couple of seconds, she shakes her head and sighs.

"Acorn, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be able to come with you after all. After what just happened, I feel like she's more dangerous than that creature. She told me how scary he was... and then went and provoked him into a fight! We all got away safely this time, buI f I stay with her, I'm afraid of what might happen next time. And since she's your traveling companion..."

The woman then looks at Acorn sadly.

"I'm really sorry... and I do hope you find your friend."

Acorn, surprised, watches as Zee flees.

"But - I wasn't - I mean -"

Zee hurries off before Acorn can explain, and he's not even sure if she'd heard what he did say.

We were travelling companions of convenience, nothing more. She had some people she wanted to meet near here and had made it clear that she wanted to part ways before meeting them; and now we have parted ways.

And now - I didn't think that you'd be scared of me, Zee. I know that you have some secret that Jane knew, and I'm no Sureluck Jones, but - that's the real reason you fled me, isn't it? Because I know there's some painful incident in your past, and if we travel together I just might find out what it is?

My goodness, I am
tired. I'll work this out in the morning. Still need to talk to the mage who summoned that water elemental - can wait 'til tomorrow.

Acorn, too sleepy to seriously consider the risks, dismisses the elemental fragment and returns to the boathouse with the intention of sleeping.

"Afraid so, Ma'am. Just the two of us were pulled from the water by the locals."

Les pauses for a moment if it looks like Kilmeyer needs it to guarantee she's still together. "I was in the airlock when it happened so I don't know much. Was any word sent out, ma'am?"

Acorn sleeps unbothered by anything but his thoughts.

Kilmeyer shrugs. "I don't think so. I was nowhere near the con; but whatever it was was pretty fast." After a couple of seconds she looks up and adds: "Unless there's someone around here who can help get me to Quebec, it looks like I just joined the infantry."
