Jason bellows "GO" and changes weapons to his LMG. He then will tail-end-charlie the formation as they pull back, laying down fire on any legionaries who present themselves.

Judah, who isn't much use in a fight with only one arm, humps over towards Julia and helps the two Scribes carry her with his good hand.

A few Knights from the Outpost notice the Keyestone changing formation and concentrate their fire, trying to make a hole for their would-be rescuers to get through the line.

With Justin and Jason holding fire on the south, the rest of the Keyestone concentrate on the Legion in the cross fire. It takes longer than Justin would have liked, but they manage to make a hole in the Legion line and start a rush to reach the Outpost.

Little Judah doesn't make it, however: after elbowing past Jason and shouting for he and Justin to get moving, he turns his mini-gun on the Legion, grinning like a madman as round after round pours into their ranks. He buys enough time for the rest of the Keyestone to regroup with the Knights at Hot Springs; just as he starts to turn back towards the line at the Outpost, however, a Frumentari gets lucky, and Little Judah goes down with a spear in his knee. Before any of the Brothers can aid him, he is swarmed by the Legion, and lost.

As the Keyestone reaches the Outpost, Jeremiah dodges inside, and he and Joe place Julia on the ground. He looks around quickly. "Okay, where's your communications equipment?"

Justin is the last Keystone to fall back to the bunker, taking a position where he can continue to put fire into the Legion. He takes a moment while reloading to survey the scene.

"We need to get ready to fall back now! We're outnumbered and out gunned, and we have to get out of here before we cannot. Who is in charge here?"

There's an old man holding the radio receiver who waves at Jeremiah. "Had someone on the other end a couple minutes ago."

The outpost Knights (three out of the initial six posted) take places at the outpost's weapon ports. One of the merchants motions at Jack. "I think he's the closest to 'in charge' we've got."

"Who, me?" Jack asks, genuinely confused.

Justin nods.

"Get all these civilians in order and ready to move out as soon as possible. We aren't going to be able to hold once those Legion reinforcements get here. Get the Paladin loaded on a cart or something, along with any wounded who can't walk."

Justin takes aim on another Legion soldier and fires a burst from his laser rifle.

"Scribes, once you've called in our intentions to HQ get ready to deny the materiel we can't take with us. We're going to have to fry this equipment just like the vertibird, and blow any munitions we can't take with us. See if you can rig something."

"R-right!" Jack hops to it and addresses the large group of fellow traders. "Alright, you heard the Knight in Heavy Armor! Everyone get together and get ready to run as if your life depended on it!"

After that's done, he goes to get his Pack Brahmin Jessie. Pulling her and his cart towards the Keystones, he helps load the fallen Paladin into the back.

Jeremiah smiles wryly. "What is Kilo-Sierra-Niner-Six-Two-Delta? I was speaking to someone here who left to get someone who knows stuff, but then nobody returned." The scribe examines the communication equipment to determine if he will be able to reach the more distant signal from here.

Jason continues to lay down fire on any legionary who gives him a good shot while watching the flanks as much as he can for probes.

The old merchant whom Jeremiah took the radio from points at Jack. "I was going to get him, but you boys looked busy out there." He wanders off to salvage as much of his trade gear as possible.

The Keyestone and the Hot Springs Knights manage to keep the Legion at bay, but the reinforcements from the south will be in engagement range in a few minutes. Best anyone can tell, Justin is right - the Outpost won't hold.

Jeremiah fiddles with the dials, trying to raise the other Brotherhood signal, but he doesn't really get anything but static. He's still picking up the unidentified signal, however.

The merchants help Jack get the wounded and whatever useful portable gear (including several medical kits and two crates of Brotherhood rations) loaded on to the carts, of which there are three.

"Justin, I can't pick up the other Brotherhood signal, but there's an unidentified one I'm picking up. I'm going to see if they can help." Jeremiah tunes the receiver to the unidentified signal, and doesn't wait for Justin's response. "Hot Springs Outpost to unidentified signal. Please identify yourself."

Joe gets to work rigging the stuff to blow. "I'm gonna need all the pulse charges we have," he informs one of the Outpost Knights, "Where do you keep 'em?"

With the carts loaded up with everything that could be of use, Jack is set and ready to go. He makes sure that his Laser Pistol is still loaded and takes a look around for any weapons that may have been dropped by fallen members of the Brotherhood, as they could be of use as well.

"Guys, if we're gonna leave we should do it soon."
