I for one am glad you kept your word on the start day.

I'm actually running this game, but David will help in hopes of counteracting my tendency to mangle RPGS in spectacularly awful ways.

So let's go!

You've seen the posters. Of course you have. They're everywhere--taverns, docks, churches--and all with the same giant text and goofy stock-art woodcuts:



Maybe you were curious. Or your god nudged you. Or you really need the money. Whatever your reason, you sent your references to the address on the poster.

Now you're meeting the mysterious employer in (where else?) a tavern for one final interview ...

System is straight-narrative make-it-up-as-you-go-along roleplaying.

Setting is bog-standard D&D-esque fantasy world (with latitude for you, too, to help with worldbuilding through your roleplaying).

Looking for 3-5 players. Character specialties not listed on the poster are more than welcome.

Character creation:

Provide the following information:
Name, race, gender, specialty (fighter, cleric, wandering minstrel, etc).
Anything else that seems relevant. As much backstory as you want to write.
(I won't share any of this with the other players, so tell me what you want me to know and tell them what you want them to know.)

Choose 2 skillsets to be Above Average; 2 Average; 2 Below Average:
Athletic/Physical (Doing Stuff; Feats of Strength)
Combat (Fighting Stuff)
Magic (Casting Spells; Blowing Stuff Up)
Awareness/Cleverness (Sensing Stuff; Figuring Stuff Out)
Scouting/Covert (Tracking Stuff; Stealing Stuff; Spying)
Social/Manipulative (Being Charming; Going Undercover; Getting Your Way)

No math here; this is on you as a roleplayer. If you're Average in Athletic/Physical, and you're doing some physical feat, play it like a typical run of dice rolls in any random RPG--you win some, you lose some. If you're AA, play it like you're on a hot streak. If you're BA, play it like the dice are out to get you.

Assign yourself:

1 Advantage (attractive, high charisma, good sense of danger, photographic memory, etc.)

1 Disadvantage (forgetful, physical weakness, cowardly, pathologically honest, etc.)

1 Quirk – something that doesn't really hurt your ability to do your job, but may make some situations and friendships harder (always trying to round up a foursome for a card game, makes bad puns, hums when nervous, checks locks three times, etc.)

Provide 1 Ally group and 1 Enemy group. They can be anything--elves, members of your religion, innkeepers, clowns, people from your hometown, whatever. Whoever your character would expect help/trouble from, given your character's background and experiences.

And I will be making a character no doubt about it. Probably a straight combat/physical fighter type.
