I think Grillick overlooked a post, Kajin.

If Stan would like, he can hit me up with some contact and I'll be glad to pass the raw GIMP file on to him.

Map should be accurate with all first-turn deployments now. There's a lot of purple on that little space down in the far left. Kind of annoying trying to squeeze it all in.

Alliances of any sorts are fine. But an unbreakable alliance is boring. Broken alliances are lots more fun!

The troops are placed. The world over give sons and prayers to their armies. The drums of war call.

Turn order is determined by dice roll each round. Turns are broken down into self-explanatory sequences.

1. Raise Armies and Gather Faith. You gain armies and place them where you wish except the Underworld. You also gain faith.
2. Summon Gods and Build Temples.
3. Obtain Miracle Cards.
4. Play Miracle Cards. This is if the card says "Play on your turn". If it says "Play when defending" or the like, don't play it here.
5. Suffer Plague.
6. Invade Territories. You will end the post here, where I will give the battle results in a following post. You may announce many attacks here and if you wish for more, merely post so after the first battle result but do not continue with the rest of the turn until you're done invading.
7. Fortify Position. Where you move armies to adjacent countries of yours if you wish.
8. Embark from Heaven. In which your troops leave your heaven to a gate.
9. Invade the Underworld. Armies in the Underworld may attack opponents there and this is the time to do so.
10. End Turn.

Turn One Order:
Norsemen (Ross_Varn)
Egyptians (weatherwax)
Babylonians (FreakyBoy)
Greeks (Kajin)
Celts (Grillick)

You each gain three armies and three faith.

Ross_Varn's Turn Begins!

Don't we gain four each? Three for held territories, and one for our temples? The temple army has to go in the temple territory, though.

Also, it's kind of lame that I had to place first and don't get to go first.

Tritonis: 1
Dacia: 1
Antonia: 1

The Captain stands astride his steed, looking down into the valley below. Since he had been stationed here before, the Gauls had ever held this border, and the Norse did not march to war for fear that their actions would be met with swift retribution from all other countries. Today? No longer. The very earth seemed to swell with preparations across the land, and yet no moves were made. The Captain looks down the long line of mounted calvarly, standing to attention, and the below again, to where the walls marked the border, and the last line in the sand between war.

Motioning to his aide, the Captain nods. The aide raises a silver horn to his lips and blows, the low, sweet note echoing through the valley. The figure of a man appears on the crest of the hill, blocking out the midday sun, and casting a shadow through the valley pass. The Captain raises his claymore and bellows out a single word, one not spoken by him for far too long...

"CHARGE!"

The Norse fairly fly down the slope, howling like madmen, in an arrow pointing to the walls, and Thor strides alongside them, his eyes lit with battle.

Dacia attacks Skythia: continue attack, retreat if >3, move all but 1, hold
Sheba takes Phoenicia: Move all but 2, hold

Freaky is right. You all get four, and temple armies go in temple spaces. It is also lame, but that's just dice.
Also, forgot to mention, you may choose whether to include a god in a battle. That way, you don't have to risk them in a Godswar. But where's the fun in that?

I assume you meant Anatolia since I do not see Antonia on the board. I also assume you mean "retreat if < (less than) 3" or else you'd be running before you started.

Dacia (7) invades Skythia (4): 6, 5 Vs. 5, 5. Skythia loses 2.
Dacia (7) invades Skythia (2): 5 Vs. 1. Skythia loses 1.
Dacia (7) invades Skythia (1): 5 Vs. 5 (Attacker wins tie due to God of War.) Skythia loses 1.
Dacia conquers Skythia.

Sheba (7) invades Phoenicia (1): 4 Vs. 3. Phoenicia loses 1.
Sheba conquers Phoenicia.

Ross_Varn continues!

Er, I said Sheba attacks Phoenicia. That's slightly important, and dealing with these names is going to be difficult... Could you possibly fix that?

Fortify: 2 from Anatolia to Phoenicia [once combat is resolved]

I think it's lame that you're using dice to determine something that we're supposed to bid faith points on without decreasing the number of faith points we get. It's going to make faith too powerful.

I read up on the rules, and it looks like that's the way of the game, Grill. To emphasize the Gods against Gods thing, I believe.

We're supposed to use our faith to bid for turn order, though. Without spending that faith, we'll all have too much.

It simplifies it a bit though. We'd have another step to go through otherwise, so it's really a matter of translation to play-by-post.

I completely forgot about the faith bid. We can do it next round if you wish.

If you're going to change it, we should start over. If you're not going to start over, we should just leave it as it is and I'll grumble silently from now on.
