Felix sighs.
"Lead the way, Aldric. Nate, you wanna help search for some mold? I think some of it might be worth having samples of, if there's any to be had."
While they walk, Felix asks about planting techniques the farmers might know and use.
Science roll to try and find mold in the fields. Tag the aspects Large Fields and Lack of Crop Rotation, if such aspects exist (not rotating your crops tends to result in more frequent mold outbreaks as spores build up in areas if crops vulnerable to it are continually replanted in those same spots). If the roll fails, spend a fate point and tag Fortune Roulette if that'll bump it over.

Nate follows along, still chortling. He'll take a look around the fields, and poke his nose into the grainery as well. Ergot can be nasty, but it does have it's uses.

I'm gonna say no, this time around. I spend a point to deny my Fate.

It takes most of the afternoon to find a tiny not of fungus on the underside of a leaf. Aldric is surprised to learn of it, and mutters darkly under his breath.
Piper doesn' t seem interested in helping, but she does play a pleasant little tune while Nathan and Felix hunt down fungus

Felix takes a moment to examine the fungus, to see if it resembles the penicillin-like fungus that was described earlier. Regardless of whether it is or isn't, however, he still uncorks a test tube and carefully removes the leaf with the fungus from the plant, putting it inside the test tube and corking it back up. He then examines the rest of the plant and the surrounding plants to make certain they got all of it and that none remains.

Aldric is already looking over the nearby leaves, muttering darkly under his breath at this intrusion of fungus into the village's food supply. Fortunately, it seems the outbreak was detected early, and is limited to no more than one or two plants.
Felix cannot identify a completely alien fungus with any degree of certainty without access to a properly equipped science lab, which right now means back on the ship. The best he can come up with without equipment is that he can't be certain that it's not penicillin.

"Alright, we got a sample of a fungus and we treated everyone that needed treating..." Felix thinks for a moment. "I don't think we have much of anything else to accomplish here, anymore. I guess it's time my friends and I headed back to our own village. Aldric? It's been a pleasure."

"If M'lord would like to come and look at our fields again. M'lord is always welcome." Aldric bobs his head deferentially, but hurries off as soon as the group leaves.
On the way back, only a little out of sight of the village, Piper suddenly stops and, tugging on Felix' hand, tries to lead him off to the right of the path.

"Hmm?" Felix is confused, but lets Piper guide him. "What is it?"

"It" is apparently a fungus growing on a bush about two steps off the path. Piper points it out to Felix, then goes back to sit on the cart.
It's not the same fungus as the one Felix found in the field.

"Ah, thanks Piper," Felix pulls out the kit and goes to collect some of the fungus.

As they continue on their way home, Piper repeatedly pulls Felix off to one or the other side of the path, each time leading him to a new fungus. On more than one occasion, the fungus in question is placed in such a way that it could not possibly have been seen from said path.
As soon as Felix's last test-tube has a sample in it, Piper stops finding new fungi, settling rather for playing a relaxing, dreamy little tune on her pipes.
--------------
The group reaches the ship again without incident, at sundown. The knights seem more than a little discomforted about something. When asked, they point out that the first time they travelled from the village to the ship, it took them half a day, travelling swiftly; now, travelling with Felix and Nathan, they've covered the route both there and back in the same amount of time, despite frequent fungus stops and a wagon to pull. They would rather like to know how Felix and Nathan pulled that off.

Nathan frowns, consulting his map that he made, and what he remembers of the journey in his best guess to estimate the distance covered.

Measuring distance on this sort of journey is normally done be estimating speed and measuring time.
Nathan: Survival: Skill: +4 Roll: +1 Total: +5 Target: +4
A horse, walking travels at maybe six or seven kilometres an hour. Given the time that they appeared to have taken moving to the village and back (estimated from the position of the Sun before and after each leg of the journey), this suggests it's no more than twenty kilometres away, maximum.
Thinking back over the journey, though, there is something odd. On the way back, the cart was more slightly heavily loaded (the food they got weighed less than the medicines they'd used). Moreover, there had been regular stops for Felix to collect some-or-other interesting fungus. Which, all in all, should have meant that the return journey would have taken longer than the outward journey.
So why did the sun move further during the outward journey than the return one?
