Ah, bacterial pneumonia. I know it well. It hospitalized me for a week when I was in first grade with a 105F fever. It was so high for so long that it led to minor brain damage, primarily in my memory processing regions (hippocampus).
Pneumonia that was misdiagnosed as a cold also caused the death of one of my grandfathers.
And then it killed a good friend 3 years ago who was just recovering from the H1N1 flu.
Needless to say, I consider pneumonia an enemy.
