@Ultima: :torg: Ermm... I dunno, still not quite buying it. I guess I can see Torg blaming himself since he didn't see Riek take the squid out of containment--for all he knows it wriggled out from under the door. But as a reader I can't bring myself to blame Torg for someone else's dumbassery.

:riff: You're probably right about Riff, though. I was thinking too much in terms of him saving 4U city and not enough about him falling back into the fold at the end of 758449. Now that I've thought about it, I can think of any number of occasions where he's despaired, but then recovered his heroic nature to save the day. But in terms of today's comic, my question still stands: who does he think is going to deal with the R&D Wars if not him and Torg?

The spear is the sole source of the Dimension of Pain, and it was brought to the "clean" dimension from the Dimension of Pain.. hmm

Btw., the Dimension of Pain is a possible future courtesy of the Nofun Group and 4U City is a possible future courtesy of Hereti Corp. So, how about Crushestro Inc.; can we tie them to any of the many dimensions we've seen? I sure love me a good speculation!

Crushestro armed the mutants in the 4U future. Schlock and Company claimed to have founded the city to protect society's last remnants against the NoFun/Crushestro alliance.

I'm a little lost on Torg's logic on this one- and surprised Pete seems to be moving more into the "Dimension of Pain Demons are closely linked with Mutants." Their supernatural status is pretty deeply entrenched in the storyline- and Torg, of all people should be aware of this because he fought the Demon King himself- and rescued a Goddess of Good. (As a note, I'm curious if Torg knows more about the DoP Squid-on a Stick- since so man of the Dimension of Lame's people (including Alt-Riff) were turned into demons by it to assist in the conquest, those who weren't harvested as souls).

Though things have been moving in this direction with Nofun from some time, I had the sense it was more coincidental (convergent dimensional evolution), not an actual "Dimension of Pain" equality. Torg's language today sounds like he sees no difference, despite his long experience in a war with the demons.

Also, didn't Riff and Torg already start this conversation after the initial Nebraska Hotel-room chat under the stars? Seems a little abrupt for Riff to still be in a tiff over this... though I'm sure Pete has plans for Monday. Just seemed a little unclear how this scene and the earlier discussions flowed.

(don't mean to nitpick too much, just my impressions and things I struggled with a bit as a reader. )

Right, right, completely forgot about the mutants in 4U. So.. much.. details..

Then, it might me a fair guess that Torg simply is wrong? That the evolution of the Nofun Group isn't really related to the DoP at all, and that he just jumped the gun because of many similarities? Everything in the R'n'D wars is mostly just relevant to the 4U dimension?

Gotta say, I have to hand it to Pete to be able to create an entire alt-reality version of the Endgame for Sluggy, just to give himself plenty of loopholes to keep us guessing even MORE for the actual Sluggy Prime Endgame.

Few people could tell their story REPEATEDLY in different ways across dimensions and still keep their fans waiting with baited breath for how its going to all pan out. :)

(Just wanted to acknowledge my serious respect for his craft, even if some of the stuff on Friday confused me a little bit on flow.

I think it was Torg's mood swinging at the end, too that kinda threw me (and Riff apparently). Though overall, seeing him in "business mode" is feeling pretty cool, in a semi-business shirt like a President in a situation room, and very intense/focus. RE-reading book 1 today, love how he's evolved as a character

Also, anyone notice how Chaz is just suspended in air in the final panel? Just noticed it on a re-read today, its almost like Torg got so caught up in his ego trip that he forgot to put it back down and gravity followed suit. Funnier that way, actually :) ).

Looks like he stabbed Chaz into the ceiling by accident.

Haha, yes I see the black sort-of ceiling there now. Love it. :)

There are SO many times I wish Chaz COULD talk to provide commentary on Torg.

In other news my avatar is up again, Huzzah! Need to try and scan Pete's Defenders Art of my Sluggy RPG character in front of Bun Bun's Elf-CEO desk :)

Yeah, Pete is like Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects.
