Um, where did this come up recently? Did I miss something? I remember the discussion about "sluggy", but "freelance"? Who mentioned that? Yeah! What he said! Ditto. Riff was Freelancer Sluggy when he worked at Herticorp.

I'm certain it was explained very persuasively in that scroll. Not sure if anyone's noticed, but you can read the beginning of the scroll. It sure starts persuasively. "Greetings, heir to the bloodline of Justice. (This) is an account of the seventh spark from beginning to end: The only Question is your place in" Looking forward to learning more of Will's motives and what more told him. And ditto to everyone wondering why Torg said Sluggy Freelance rather than just Sluggy.

He mentioned something about bringing K'Z'K back in a weakened state. He believes (wrongly, since he's following K'Z'K's own directions) that he can control the return of K'Z'K. Just like his ancestor wrongly believed that he could control it as well. However, that begs the question as to why he's siding with Skippy... ...or vice-versa. It also begs the question of why he was perfectly willing to shoot Torg and Zoe to advance the plan, even if he couldn't pull the trigger himself.

<rant mode="pedantic">It invites the question.</rant> But yeah.
What's up with "freelance" and Bun Bun? And why does Riff's dad want to bring back the big bad mofo bent on destroying everything? And why does he look so creepy all of a sudden? And why doesn't Skip just ooze out of those handcuffs?
