Krig Gaul? I think I'm missing something here.
I mean, yeah, I definitely looked at yesterday's strip and thought, "Oh, hey, the Krig sure does look like a younger, leaner Santa Claus," so I got that connection. But what is Krig Gaul supposed to sound like?

Certainly that Bun bun was an ancient god originally named Sluggy seems to have been part of the plan from the beginning (or at least very early), similarly the reveal about Riff and the not-yet-reveal about Torg. Whether "Krig Gaul" was in his mind the first time Bun bun went hunting Santa.. that might have become an added detail as the story evolved. But I think all of this was outlined in some detail by the time of the Holiday Wars and Oceans Unmoving, so it's at least a decade in fulfillment. So when I said, "planning," I didn't mean that Pete had all this figured out sixteen years ago and has been waiting to spring it. More like "planning continuously, and adding details as he thinks of plot points for the ongoing and evolving story." NOTE: This is spec about when Pete did what, not spec about future plot points. (I hope....)
