I'm going to take a stab and say that Asahn is being characterized in the same vein as many heroes of mythology (theseus, perseus, hercules, etc.) without actually being a reference to any particular real world mythological figure. However, Pete has made relatively obscure mythological references in the past (e.g., Kostianaya Noga), so I'm by no means certain that it isn't either a) a real world mythological figure about whom I've never heard or b) a mythological figure I know by some name, but I'm missing the obscure references that would help me link Asahn to that figure.

Whoa. I never connected Lady Noga with Baba Yaga (didn't know about the KN part of the name). Cool, especially for any Cheeseburger Brown fans out there.

Hm. According to http://www.oldrussia.net/baba.html, "Kostianaya Noga" means "Boney Legs" ...
