I still find Slender Man seems heavily inspired by the Tall Man in the Chzo series, that came out 2 years earlier.

Plus hey, it's a horror adventure game. You can't believe how jumpy you can get over pixelated gore and monsters. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chzo_Mythos

Marco's spellwork very much resembles that of the Book of Eville.

(BTW Pete: I don't know which you were aiming for, but I'm just going to mention it to be sure: 'Hassen' is the verb (infinitive), the noun would be 'Hass'.)

Er, why? I don't think so.

"I told you so! Shoulda listened to me" is not an appropriate response when your friend just died.

His response is "Goodbye. I'm sorry I couldn't save you." Regret, maybe sadness. There's no evidence that they were good friends, merely colleagues, and he's in mortal peril, so I'm not seeing a lack of waterworks as a strike against him.

As for the third panel, he's saying that now that "It" has taken her, he can feel It working on him next. Those aren't his natural feelings, anymore than I imagine Arabella normally went around hating people who were scared for her life and trying to help her. He's acknowledging that he can feel this hate-based entity trying to work on him, that he can feel irrational hatred growing inside of him. He's saying that he's scared of what he's feeling. I'm not getting any sense of rub-it-in-her-now-dea-face victory dancing, just vocalizing very rational terror.

Also, honestly? It IS a natural feeling for a good person to want to say "you idiot, why didn't you listen to me" when someone fails to respond to your words and the failure kills them. Rational, no, but to call it dickish seems more than a little harsh.

The last spell character looks like a saxophone. Or maybe a creepy bubble pipe.
