So, is The Book "demonically burning" or just "normal burning"?
Well...it doesn't appear to be consuming itself, but it's not doing anything else like it was before when Torg first lit it.

Quote: Old wood burns faster than new wood. Old live trees don't generally burn any faster than young trees. Old dried logs do burn faster than logs from a freshly felled tree because there's less water to boil away. Torg's theory seems to be that the hate monsters are not only dead as humans, and not only plants (even though they talk and walk around), but that they're dead plants, so that the old ones have dried up. Well, he didn't see them sprout roots during the night. The monsters are certainly not made of solid wood anyway. No matter how sharp a sword is, it doesn't chop a tree trunk off in one blow the way Torg chopped those monsters' heads off. These things are as easy to cut as cucumbers, but they catch fire like dried leaves.

Well...it doesn't appear to be consuming itself, but it's not doing anything else like it was before when Torg first lit it. When Torg lit it, it was trying to get to the lab to recover its torn-out page. Some days I sit back and wonder how Pete thinks up all these crazy ideas.

It's not levitating like it was before, so something appears to of changed.
