Not really getting the funny. Trying hard not to notice that the digbots are sentient.
I'm normally one to argue in favor of respect for artificial life forms, but I'm not sure the individual digbots qualify as Sentient. King Under the Mountain certainly is. The rest seem to have more of a network hive mind. They don't seem to care much for those lost to carelessness with darts. So they're probably more like an insect hive. If a digbot is lost, it doesn't matter much to the others, just build a new digbot to attend to the fallen one's duties. And if they do have a networked mind, then the fallen digbots memories could even be installed in the new body.
Of course, I could be wrong.
