This is probably the most well done 'chess' theme organization ever made. Usually with the theme as shown, the titles are bestowed almost at random where title simply denotes rank and/or power. Here Pete uses the actual gameplay of chess to give out titles based on a member's skill and worth corresponding to the nearest approximated game piece.

Nicely done.

Dang, Torg. I guess if you're going to use people to play chess, you might as well be honest about it.

Now that we're seeing master-planning Torg in all his Evil-Room-esque monitored glory, I wonder what further plans he has that we haven't heard.

Prediction -- we'll see Inky again, and then he's going to get DFA'ed into the other dimension so he can join Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde.

Oh, now I want that to happen. Of course this may disappear when a mod comes through...

Regretfully, Pinky got ate by a dragon.

Rook = Logistics
Knight = Cyber Warfare
Bishop = Security
Pawn = Agents

Speaking of Pawns, who wants to be a Pawn? That's almost worse than being a Redshirt.

The Rooks are powerful allies, their help has to be earned through favors.
The Bishops are close friends, their dedication to the cause is already assured
The Knights are somewhere in between. They support the cause and don't have to be constantly bought, but they aren't trusted friends so their support still comes at some cost.
The Pawns are only loosely influenced. They have little power, and Torg has little control over their actions.

This analysis also follows what Torg says about the Queen. The "Most powerful" and the "most difficult". The other tiers are likewise grouped by their relative power and difficulty.

As far as being redshirts, as long as Torg has little influence on them, he also bears little responsibility for how they get themselves killed. Pawns are also capable of Promotion, should Torg manage to convince them to join him fully (knights) or should they become more powerful in their own right (rooks).

Great analysis, both of you.

I think it's kind of interesting that Bun-Bun himself is not on the board at all...
