There are at least 2 loose threads that need to be tugged any moment now...

I'm having trouble pinning down Anthony's motivation. When he's fully himself, he seems to be trying to let her go -- so does that mean he's actually still in Urja's mental grip right now?
This reminds me (albeit a bit more darkly) of Torg's not-yet-death at the hands of Crushestro, after the Dim Henchmen of Pang make their exit.
And speaking of exit, I'm still waiting for an entrance.

The "Even without Urja's influence I'm still a monster so I have to kill you anyway" logic doesn't quite add up for me. If it were that simple, Sam would have killed the gang long ago. Although I suppose it's possible Vrykos' innate personality changes once they're turned whereas the same can't be said for Lysinda vamps.

I'm pretty sure he's saying he's a monster because he wants to kill her, not the other way around. If anything it's more of a rationalization than logic.

That's sort of what I mean though. He's compelled to kill her. But this sort of impulse never really happened to Sam. I wonder what it is about Sam that allowed him to retain his "non-monsterness."

I guess we'll probably never know now, but it could be personal too. She did abandon him to his fate after all.
