Really curious to see if Torg's next move is to take the remains with him so they can be restored later or to leave them behind (to presumably perish when the sun comes up or when Urja, who is still outside, refocuses her attention). I can see one major complication with allowing Sam and Sylvia to die (beyond the guilt/emotional consequences) and that's the undoing of the magical contract currently keeping the Strakoi out of the Americas. There's more at stake (unbeknownst to Torg and Riff) than just Sam's immediate fate. If these two perish a whole new swarm of vampires is unleashed on a new continent.

Leaving them behind is akin to "never found the body". They will live, and it will come back to haunt Torg. Killing them on the spot is much more difficult, and making sure that the sun does the work means bringing them with.

Most of the work for killing them on the spot has been done. They just need some garlic.

I thought vampires didn't have breath anyway.

For sure Sam doesn't breathe.

Kind of always assumed that though vampires don't need to breathe, they can and do move air in and out of their lungs to produce speech. Not at all sure how a disembodied vampire head is able to talk...

Yeah, a wizard did it. Or, reasons.

I must be the only one interested in an overtone singing headless vampire duo.
*sigh*
