One thing I'd like to know is when in relation to the Bug Squisher War did the Strakoistrat destroy the other circles of Vorpyr. After? Before? That's one thing I doubt we'll get an answer to here, because it's probably not all that relevant, but I'm still curious.

Definitely reminds me of Vistuvius. :-)
Talky strip. But if you're going to do a talky expository strip, this is an awesome way to do it. I love the visual presentation.
The Vryko pyramid may give them strength, but it also has a huge glaring weakness: Philinnon. "If the Vryko who made you died, you would die." So if Philinnon dies, all her direct "descendents" die. Which means all THEIR direct descendents die, on down the line. Kill Philinnon and you eradicate the entire Vryko race in one swift stroke. And the Strakoi have (had?) Philinnon.

I'm wondering who she's talking to.

It would seem that the Master level ones can survive the death of the parent vampire, but it weakens them. How long it would take them to recover from that is yet unknown.

Now, I think, is a good time to point out that Pete did his research when it comes to vampires. Vrykolakas are a thing. They are the word people used before the word vampire existed. From Greek mythology. "Strigoi" are also a thing. They come from Romanian mythology, which is why Vistuvius had a Romanian accent. Vorpyr is made up, but since their powers relate to what we commonly consider "normal" vampires, it's safe to say Pete derived them from the Victorian popularization of the myth.

Dakshina was their mother, Urja was hunting everyone in Izzy's family, presumably because they were related to urja and drinking their blood made her powerful. seeing Dakshina in today's comic made me sad.

Top Hat Snake FTW. Also, I agree with garyfritz about the presentation.
And yeah, it seems if you're a strong enough master (i.e. you've eaten enough of your relatives?) you can survive an upstream snuff.
Lots of reveals are coming, I'm sure.
