Twas the night before Friday, when all through the coven,
The vampires' screaming and sobbing were interwoven.
The victims were hung from the ceiling ready to brutalize,
With hopes that Queen Philinnon would yet return alive.

The "most powerful vampire" was mighty close to getting dusted by Vambrey with relative ease the first time we saw her. Methinks Urja may be biased in n her assessment of her Queen's abilities.

Are they wearing Medieval Plague Death Masks? Sweet.

So who do the Strat need to justify the execution to exactly? There are only two Vork and its not like there are any more Vyrk to upset what with having killed their queen. Are there other vampire factions we are unaware of or is it a magical agreement thing?

And we've been over this. Vyrk can jump hella high... and they can probably also glide/hover. Like maxing our your agility in Crackdown.

In panel 1 I thought that House Slytherin had popped up. I guess its too late to have the Strat be related to House Not-Slytherin from Torg Potter (granted they are both European).

And I am bummed that Dakshina bit the dust. She just screamed Boss Fight.

Philinnon is also very close to wiping out her entire race, all thanks to the "war" she declared because of two crass words uttered by a buffoon. Her pride and hauteur have cost her dearly.

I'm getting my chronology mixed up here. This strip makes it sound like the Strak captured Philinnon before Urja did the bloodkeeper, then used that as an excuse to execute Phil. But if that were the case, Phil already at the mercy of the Strak like that, it seems odd that Phil would have given Urja the go-ahead to do what she did. Also, yesterday's strip suggested that the Strak captured/killed Phil in response to Urja's action.

I believe that they planned this attack for some time. The attack on Dr. V was just an excuse to launch the plan.

Also, with Lysinda dead, Phil very well may have been the toughest one left.

Counteropinion: Thank you, pete, for killing dakshina. Now she is finally free.

I love how urja makes everything out to be everybody else's fault. She murdered, maimed, and tortured her way across the stage, she made a point of hunting down and eating her own family, turning them into vampire slaves, and yet when she tells the story, she's the victim.

Everyone is the hero of their own story.

Well, not to spec, but yesterday's strip says: "Strakoistrat: The ruling party of the Strakoi vampiric elders". If there is one party, by definition there are others, as it is a "part", one faction. It could mean there are different opinions among the Strakoi elders.

Or, they have made agreements with the Vrykolakas, and sworn agreements among the vampires must be kept. "We swear not to harm your queen as long as you do our bidding."

Yeah, that's fine with me.

This explains why Urja was so ticked when they dusted Anthony. He was her only blood left -- meaning when he died, her extra power went with him. Now she has even more motivation to hunt Izzy.

Not that any of this appears to explain "the plan of circles" from yesterday...

Monday then.

So when/why did Pete decide that Vrykos can't fly? Was is just in this chapter?

It's great, isn't it? I really like Pete's take on vamps. Only place I've ever seen anything like it is in the Dresden Files novels. I'm really liking the art and the narration too. Keep it up, Pete!

Sometime around urja's attack on vistuvious, Pete commented something to the effect that they can't fly, they never could, they could just jump really well, and apparently that was more clear to viewers of the defender level content, but less clear in the main, free, daily comic. Was it retcon or was it a clarification?
