Monday wonders...

Many cartoon characters only have three fingers and a thumb. If you were to exclude the thumb in the count, would them giving you the "middle finger" still be considered an obscene gesture? Or is that just them showing you their "ring finger"?

Though just because they were contractually required to have their pinky fingers removed before they could act in TV or movies, why would the naming conventions of the fingers change?

The obscene gestures vs. Showing off the ring is just inferred from context. No renaming.
