The skin's looking fancy! What's this? Shading in *my* Sluggy Freelance? It's more likely than you think!

I think if you thin out the sides of her lips so they join the corners of her mouth, and shrink the cleft of her lip a little, it'll go right back to looking normal again.

Maybe the eyes don't match the rest because they're less realistic and more sharply outlined?

It's just freaky for Zoë to have a 3-D nose........

I'm gonna go with this being a rendition of Zoe after a few too many trips to the plastic surgeon.

Yup. That seems about right.

I'm not sure what Pete wants to achieve, but if realism is a goal, then the eyes are too big, and the irises are way too small in relation to the whites.

Not that I would be able to draw it better. Seeing what's wrong is one thing. Drawing it right is another.

Maybe this chapter is called "falling" because Pete is "falling" behind. :pun:

I've just noticed....Zoe is a lot more shapely than she was in the early years.

And yeah, the final product is gonna look really weird if "hyper realistic" is the goal.

I'm getting a Picasso vibe here. It seems to me that the face is seen from two angles at the same time, depending on whether you look at the eyes + nose or the mouth

You know, I just noticed that she's missing the tattoo.

You're right, but it was in the black and white sketch.
It never occurred to me that Zoe was half-Korean until we met her family.

I've noticed that too. I figure it makes perfect sense with her being about 18 at the beginning. (We know an alternative Zoë was born in 1979.)

Pete:
I think your main problem is that you were focusing on the boobs too much. They're distracting you while you do the other facial features. Try again with her in a turtleneck and I bet you do great!

This whole experiment reminds me of the Oasis art that also got ruined by the mouth. Same issue, the lips are too thick on the sides, looks like she got a bad collagen injection. It's a solid attempt though, and a lot of the rest of the piece looks good.

The other bit that bothers me is the left eye. It's too large, with too much white showing.

Not trying to tear down your work, Pete, just offering some hopefully-constructive criticism...
