Why would they be too low quality for printing? Not high enough resolution?
Well to print something out, they tend to want a dpi of 300 for the image, otherwise you might see pixels when it's printed and things will tend to be blurry.
The strips Pete uploads are usually 750 pixels wide, which would be about equivalent to 100 dpi. So to make to make it look good, it would be about 2.5 inches/6.4 cm wide. If that's okay, then we don't have a problem. But if we wanted to print it larger...and look good...
First we would have to assume we would be able to get a hold of the scans of the original line-art --that Pete does at 300 dpi. Second, everything that I did would have to scaled up three times.
The hard-edge stuff can can be scaled up to infinity with no degradation. Here's an
example of just the hard-edge colors from the 2014-08-13 strip.
The soft-edge stuff is where we have the problems and probably all of it would have to be completely redone. Here's an
example of the soft-edge colors from the same strip. Everything in this image will tend to become blurry as you size it up. The shading's edge where it blends becomes too smooth. The gradients may have some "banding" occurring. Anything that was deliberately blurred, becomes really bad looking. Any line work to to fix/improve things are just like the original line-art since they will become really blurred... Though this image is a the probably the worst example since there wasn't that much line fixing required. And the white overlays...actually, those wouldn't be a problem now that I think about it.
Over all, it could be done, but we're talking about
at least a couple of hours per strip. Though in ten years

I get broken links when I try to view them, but I think that's because I'm viewing at work and it may be blocked. I'll have to try when I'm at home!
Most all of them are being hosted on DropBox, except for one which is on imgur which gives me view stats. It's up to 173 now. I could put up some alternate links to the strips on Google Drive, if that would help.
