That can be one of the theories. It means don't question or spec, just believe whatever the hell Bun Bun tells you to believe. :bunbun:

So, how popular is the theory that bun-bun is actually one of the many moon rabbits of myth in earth mortal form?

Shotgun Spec!

Todays comic ( http://www.sluggy.com/comics/archives/daily/20110909 ) we see Bun-buns eyes sorta make a sun and a moon. Interesting. Something else related to Grand Unified Sluggy?

Also, he may have been related to whatever magic junk went down in Tunisia when the sun and moon twin may have been active (cursing people to become sentient books and creating magic necklaces and such).

Perhaps he wasn't always a rabbit: We saw his mother as one, but the image could have been distorted to show his altered memory. Basphomy, for example, recognizes he was around when her time was starting, but didn't realize he was there at all until Mrs. Clause told her so... this could be because he had a different appearence and when she realized they were one and the same person it only made sense.

Maybe he was around during the time when the crew went into the middle-ages, around the time of Torgamous' death. Perhaps he IS Torgamous, who survived, was cursed to become a rabbit, and who has lost all memory of it.

Or maybe he is a piece of K'Z'K, undiscovered due to lack of memory, and his "dead mother" is just the whole of the demon, and being killed by an old weapon is symbollic for simply being killed a long time ago by the Stormbreaker. Having no memory of who he is or why, he has traveled throughout time and space as a trickster in a bizarre form, with a natural inclination toward evil.

Radnar wins the money. Soon as I'm done with a timeline I'll pull something together, unless someone else wants to volunteer to make the thread...

Yeah, I'm having a hard time arguing with that one either. Nicely done, Radnar. Lets keep T.E.K.N.A.B.B.T as the nomenclature for referencing this source thread. Sparrowsmith and my Hinge-Point theory will, I assume still be useful within its section of the thread. But that is just too perfect for the master name.

and as soon as I have time I shall make that thread!
Still going through the archives, but I sometimes don't even have time to check the daily strip, let alone visit the forum or work on the gathering of information.
Perhaps when half-term rolls around I'll be able to crack it out in a few days. I promise you KaClick will happen!

I have just gone with Bun Bun is an ancient fallen pagan god or servant of one (would be funny if he was Eastre's sacred rabbit, and hence the precursor of the Easter Bunny). and has amnesia, we know he gave himself amnesia in a paradox loop.

He is ancient enough to recognize a divine device that restores the status quo,
Santa Clause threw him outside of time both times, Bun Bun retained his hatred of Santa despite amnesia.

I wander if Bun Bun can talk to animals, if animals can just talk but don't normally do so with people, or if somehow Bun Bun has an innate magical aura even he is unaware of that grants animals the ability to talk; hence animals like that bear in the nombie arc going around doing stuff it apparently didn't do before.

Bun Bun despite being one of the oldest characters in this strip, is by far the most mysterious. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some secret connection with Oasis and Kusari that would come right out of left field *like I am your father* kind of wack out. But Oasis was a kid and raised at a special institution so not likely given the time frame.

Very interesting idea, about Bun-bun raising the awareness of other animals.
Kiki, the other long-running sentient animal of the strip, was rescued from an animal testing lab by Bun-bun.
And it seems like whenever there are sentient animals around, Bun-bun is never far off.

That might just be a coincidence, however, as Bun-bun is such a major character that he is rarely far off at all.

She could talk before she met Bun-Bun, all the lab animals could, and they warned her not to speak in front of Dr. Crabtree. It was never clarified if their intelligence was a side effect of the nanites or not.

Pete has been obfuscating the reasons behind talking vs non-talking (Pasquirrelio? Zoë Camel) animals so much that I suspect it will eventually become a major plot point.

More than slightly amused that this is still alive. :)

Eh, I'm skeptical on any of this going anywhere. Pete has long used animals with or without speech to the degree its convenient. Even if he plans to tie it into the Dr. Dee/Red Durango flashback- which does seem to deal with animal intelligence experimentation- I don't really see how any of the varied critters we've seen over the years can all be tied logically together. Its simply one of the tropes of the comic world that some animals talk, I Think.

King Farahn wearing a symbol that looks like Bun-bun says he is a disciple of the "God of Power"? Bun-bun might actually be an ancient god sealed in mortal rabbit form? Image

I could be totally seeing something that isn't there, but take a look at panel 2 of this strip from April 5, 2013.

It looks like the entrance to the city is flanked by statues of the various gods in the Mohkadune pantheon, decorated with their symbols as seen over the doorways here (panel 6) and here (panel 4). On the left side of the entrance is a guy wearing the hourglass symbol, who is presumably the god of... er, whatever that symbol stands for. Behind him is a likeness of Symachus, the god of justice, wearing his balance scale symbol. Not entirely sure who's behind him but I think I see the swirly Time god symbol.

Now look on the right side of the entrance. Can't see any symbols, but the head that tops the closest statue... is it me, or does that look kind of rabbit-like, with long floppy ears hanging down on either side? Is this the god of power?

To me, it just looks like a headdress that is similar in style to what the guards are wearing.

Could be. Then again, since Farahn is the disciple of the god of power whose symbol appears to be Bun-bun, perhaps there's a reason why Farahn's guards wear headdresses that resemble long floppy ears.

Edited on April 16 to add:
Well, it's clear from today's strip -- featuring a new angle on that statue on the right side of the city's entrance -- that the figure does not have floppy bunny ears. He's just wearing some kind of cloth hood over his head, and what I took for ears were just folds in the cloth.

The question is: if that is the god of Power... why is his face covered? And what's under the hood? :bunbun:
