I do remember the story being up. And I didn't get the feeling you got, because 1) I knew alt-Zoe was dead, and was pretty certain she'd have to die because she messed up the overall comic narrative too much alive and 2) I initially thought Pete was "copping out" when he had Torg leap in the air like that down at Horribus, because, to my mind, that just wasn't what Torg would do. When he didn't take the path he seemed to have chosen in Foolhardy, everything changed, but I'm not voting for the strip after Foolhardy (or before Foolhardy), but just Foolhardy itself.

And that's why I voted against it.

I know I was supposed to post the results this morning... Sorry, something's come up.
How about tomorrow instead?
It's not like much is really going to change.
I doubt anyone's going to vote who hasn't already.

----:sasha:----

Come on, take that as a challenge!
Come claim your invisible hoverbike!

Sorry, ma'am, I'm union.

I had to think about this one for a few days. I'm not a big fan of either strip.

While foolhardy shows us a side of Torg we rarely see, this strip doesn't just define Riff, it also shows us a side of Gwynn we rarely see. While she has been known to use her magic to help her friends (especially Zoe), we usually see her using it towards more selfish means. In general, that's how we normally see Gwynn -- acting selfishly.

This isn't just Riff being a BAMF, this is also Gwynn trying to be completely selfless for a change.

Alright, it's over.

Your Sluggy Tournament Champion has been decided. It was a grueling battle, and the underdog lobbyists (lead by and consisting almost entirely of FB) gave their all, and maybe even convinced a few people.

However, not quite enough...
The Winner
...foolhardy...

Woooooo!
Yaaay!
There it is.
The greatest Sluggy strip
In the uuuuniverse.
All other strips
Pale compared to
iiiiit.

Sorry, ma'am. I'm union has been defeated by a 13-9 margin... so, no tiebreakers. Sorry.

It really doesn't matter anyway. I'm not sure about Greg, but I think I would probably have picked "foolhardy." It's kind of been my pick since the final four or so. However, FB was really starting to sway my opinion there. A lot of people mentioned the subtle moment between Torg and Zoe, but looking back at "Union," panel 3 strikes me as possibly the most heartfelt two-shot of Gwynn and Riff. They just both look so sincere... it gives you chills. Not quite as much as the final panel of "Foolhardy," though. Yes, I know it's out of character and you kinda saw Zoe's death coming... well, I didn't, but if I read it while sober the first time I probably would have.

So, yeah, I agree with what fes said slightly more than what FB said, and that's why my vote would've been with "foolhardy."

That's it for me, everyone. It's been fun.
I don't know if I'll propose anything like this ever again. Making sure to update everyday has been a real chore for me. I don't know how the hell Pete, and other webcomic artists, can do it... especially updating with some original piece of art daily and not some pointless blather about who won the second seed in the finals or something.

Pete, I salute you and your ilk.

The thread's all yours, Greg. Lock away.
But first you have to divulge what you would've voted for.
And if you say Ralph Nader you're banned from this forum.

Well, tournaments don't really work like that. It's really more of a multi-pronged effort to eliminate contenders until there's only one left.
We had a top 20 by page 43, determined entirely by number of votes.
It's reposted right here.

Top 20
1st - "Oh," God says, "a challenge"
2nd - Sasha being Sasha
3rd - House rules
4th - My feet hurt... with destiny
5th - ...foolhardy...
6th - Who hasn't wanted to do this?
7th - Tears in the darkness
8th - Sorry, ma'am. I'm union
9th - The death of Alt-Zoe
10th - The ice cream killer
11th - What IS that blade?
12th - The Mark-5
13th - The Torg and Zoe confrontation
14th - Zoe can take care of herself
15th - Emergency pants!
16th - Emergency pants?
17th - Chloroform candle
18th - The name is "Perky"
19th - iSophagus!
20th - Torg's masterpiece

Of course, when you pit these strips against each other for a tournament things don't entirely go the same way, hence why "Foolhardy" ended up winning and "a challenge" didn't even get past the semifinals.
So uh... unless you want me to write up a recap, I think that's about it.
I'll do it though. Don't get me wrong. There are no limits no my procrastination, even to the point of taking on huge projects just in order to ignore my responsibilities.
However, in truth I think I'm pretty much done with this Tourney.

You people.

Seriously.

You couldn't just let quixoto have the last post, could you?

You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Okay folks, I'm going to :Ka-Click: this. Quix, hope you realized what you started way back when.

Anyway, folks, if you would like to discuss this more, i'm going to have to ask that you make another thread for it. 50+ pages is far too large for me to leave it open.

I'm also going to leave this stickied for a few days. just cause.
