Well, I just missed my official 8-year boardiversary, but I figured I should drop back in and see what's going on. Also, I haven't read the comic in about 2 years, so I have some catching up to do. I might start from the beginning, but the entire archive is pretty intimidating these days.

Not sure if this counts but I just got back from a 5-day hiatus while at AF JROTC Honors Camp. It was fun, but now I'm back, from outer space! .......Whaddya mean that doesn't make sense?

I'm more of a lurker than a poster, and not even that so much in the last two years (darn grad school!), but conversation at this weekend's PAX has encouraged me to revisit favorite old stomping grounds, and make more of an effort to actually post stuff.

I don't suppose I'm "back" in that I never really considered myself to have "left"... but I thought I'd explain why I'm much less prolific for the past year or so:

It appears, due to the existence of the sluggy.net email service, that sluggy.net is now blocked at work. Due to the large number of absent-minded/cowboy-mentality physicists at my work happily downloading viruses from external email services, my company now blocks everything that has such a service. OTOH, we can still access Yahoo or Google while the filter selectively blocks the email interfaces, so I'm not sure why all of sluggy.net gets the boot - but there it is.

Unfortunately, my evenings tend to be both short and very busy (including commute and a 9-hour regular workday, I'm gone from home about 13 - 14 hours a day) so I don't have much time to post spec, reactions, etc. on the boards. So, that's why so little Mr. Jest recently. Just in case you were at all curious.
