I saw X-Men Days of Future Past last night, and there was a preview for the next season of Falling Skies before the movie. After the scenes from the show, the screen cut to black and literally the first thing that popped into my head was:

"Hello, Commander. In response to the alien threat, this Council of Nations has chosen to activate the X-COM Project."

Which got me laughing; X-COM would utterly curb-stomp the aliens from Falling Skies, take their toys, and chase them back to their homeworld and blow it up for good measure.

I would totally dig an X-Com themed television series. Could we get the people that produce GoT to do it though? I mean they kill people regularly in their series and seem to be not only ok with it, but pretty darn good at it too.

So I posted here earlier about hatching a Shiny Pokémon in X Version. Well, I decided to do a deliberate hunt for one of my favorite shinies; Milotic. However, after a couple of days of not hatching a shiny Feebas (which evolves into Milotic), I went a little overboard and stockpiled a whopping 1050 eggs in the hopes that just one of them would have a shiny.

Well, turns out that I was luckier than I could ever imagine, as I've so far hatched from that massive reserve of eggs not one, not two, not three, not four, but five freaking shiny Feebas! To put this in perspective, the usual rate for hatching a shiny under the absolutely ideal circumstances is 1/1024 or so. So by all probability by the time I finished I should have had one, maybe two if I was exceptionally lucky. But five?! This, this just never happens. This is like, the stuff of freaking legends right here! And I still have 9 boxes (270 eggs) to hatch!

The question now is, does the probability of getting a shiney increase if you breed two of them together?

Unfortunately, no. Otherwise it'd be super-easy. The chances do go up if one of the parents is from a different region from the other (like Spain, France, Japan, etc) which is what I did.

It's too hot to cook inside today, so I barbequed my bacon for my tuna club sandwich.

Pulled fourteen ears of corn off my stalks. They look so plump and delicious I can already taste them. Gonna have some of it for supper tomorrow.

I bought a car, and as I signed for it the snowbirds flew overhead in formation trailing smoke.

I'm going to take this as a good sign.

Double post!

I just sprinted 200 meters flat out with the dog.
I didn't think I could do that.

The event I've been helping prepare for the past several months, which pretty much ate my life, went off without a hitch this weekend. Filmmakers from my area produced 22 short films from scripts written by area students (and local designers created posters for almost 60 scripts), which were screened in the same theater Roger Ebert chose for his film festival. Between two shows (one early show for K-7th grade scripts, one later for 8-12th grade scripts), about 1,100 people turned out, and the kids had a fantastic time. So that feels pretty damn good.
