I think it would be better if the model had taken into account the variance of gravitational and tidal forces that would be caused by having a ring system instead of (or in addition to) a moon.

The orbital views of the Earth showed the ring as casting a shadow on the planet, I want to know the figures of what time of year and for how long the ring would cast a shadow on a particular place on the Earth (a function of the latitude, I assume.)
