Is it bad that I chose something other than my first guess, purely because the lyric worked too well for the first one?

Well, it means you probably didn't throw insp any points this round.

So much for getting points this round...

Kitoba wrote:The boys were shooting dice & pool

Fooled Jorodryn
Ruan wrote:Tell their father to come and help
the boots are thumpin up the stairs.

Jorodryn wrote:They came a runnin' guns in hand

Fooled Solara Hanover and CCC
Frank Zappa wrote:You'll sit home & drink all night

Correctly guessed by Kitoba, Ruan and Inspiration
Inspiration wrote:Mama! Mama! Wake up to look and see
The chips are down & underground's the only place to be

Stan Cold wrote:Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon!
You come and go! You come and go!

CCC wrote:They shot them dead, in the head,
Then took away all of their toys.

Fooled Stan Cold
Steave wrote:There's fighting in the neighborhood.
We'll fight with words, not stone and wood.

Solara Hanover wrote:Mama! Mama! Come see what everyone has done
There they lie, the product of a gun

Fooled Steave

So that makes it
+3 Kitoba
+2 Jorodryn
+2 Ruan
+2 Inspiration
+1 CCC
+1 Solara Hanover

And thus:
inspiration: 20
Jorodryn: 14
kitoba: 13
Funky Honky: 10
Solara Hanover: 8
Ruan: 6
Steave: 5
Stan Cold: 4
CCC: 2

Well, the battle for second seems to be narrowing.

For those who are interested here's the song itself
We're Only In It For The Money was an album that roundly mocked people who were jumping on to the hippy life style because it was the trendy thing to do, and protested against the establishment (cops and most adults) and what they did to the REAL hippies who were following a philosophy and real life style. Finally towards the end of the album it provided an alternative to the established norm (check out Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance, more about freedom and acceptance than sex). I'd go into more detail about this song in particular, but I don't want to ruin the ending.

Take us home Ruan!

Hah! The one I thought worked too well was actually yours, kitoba.

Hmmm...

Well, I know I probably have some of the most esoteric music tastes on the board, so lets see what I can dig up. Somewhat limited by the fact that I've posted up some of that music, so not sure what people have actually listened to.

Alright. The song is by Ayreon, from the album The Human Equation.

The album actually has a story that it tells all throughout - a merciless and canny businessman who has neglected his wife gets in a car wreck (inexplicably swerved into a tree, cause 'unknown') and ends up in a coma. While he lies there with his wife and best friend beside him, he is tormented by all of the emotions that he has locked away - Love, Passion, Reason, Agony, Fear, Pride, Rage, (each with their own individual voices) as he relives his past that brought him to his current state

Each song is a day in the coma. The song I'm choosing is probably my favorite from the album, which is Day 11 - Love, in which he relives when he first met his wife. You guy's might have heard it before, as I've posted it up here a time or three, but I'm banking on the fact that you guys won't remember the lyrics that well.

Ayreon, Day 11 - Love wrote:There I was, nervous and shy
Struck with awe as I caught her eye

it is a mere fluke that I am in second place. I got lucky with the fact there were two songs that I knew among the list, one lucky guess and a little bit of trickery. Other than that I have no idea how I got this high in the standings. I have no doubt it will not last long. I am not as good at lyrics as inspy is. I have never even heard of the band that Ruan picked, so barring another lucky guess I am sure that inspy will somehow get my vote yet again.

I'd be surprised if you had heard of them, short of following a link to their music I'd posted before.

Ayreon isn't precisely a normal 'band' per se, but is rather a project. Arjen Lucassen gathers musicians/singers from many different European metal bands and has them perform on his albums, which all tell a story.

Got most of the entries in, just waiting on a few more. From what I've seen so far, this round is going to be a tough one for you guys.

No no, that's the whole point of trash talk. The less confident you are, the more you bluster.
