Cause Ian sucked worse tonight then he's sucked in a long time.

I read MITDOP because it's semi cannon.
Not because i enjoy it.

To be honest, I doubt Ian either reads the reactions or cares particularly as to what people think. He's doing this because he enjoys drawing/writing the MitDo* characters the way he does, and he's got a captive audience.

And if you think of it, we're reading about the Dimension of PAIN. We're not supposed to enjoy it. :kzk:

Ian is an accomplished artist in his own right (I don't care that he doesn't match up with Pete, no one asked him to), and deserves credit for his own strip, as well as turning Saturday into a minor chuckle instead of a repeat of Friday.

i see you have avoided all my rants about the freedom to have oppinions in the past.
but anyways, i award you the Super-Fan of the Week award. you tell that non-pete person.
(kidding, btw)

and.. people complained about tryka last week, i am currious, whats different? i honestly dont see it. i dont doubt that the difference is there, i just... need it pointed out to me, i guess.

Could it be the three HUGE ROUND eyes instead of the pretty eyes that Pete draws? That throws me off a bit; But it's Ian's style, which is drawn well, so I'm not going to complain about it.

I've said other places that I do get a laugh out of many MITDO* strips, but these last two have just, well... Sucked. Very boring, very predictable.

Wow. That was incredibly stupid. Good thing we don't have to go through this for another week.

Huh. So MitDOP returns.

Wasn't too sure how this one was meant to be funny, actually...

This was so bad I can't stand it. I'm sorry. I made a pledge not to insult Ian's work any further but good god. Jerry Springer? Even excusing the lame and overdone premise that good=bad Jerry Springer hasn't been topical for years.

My roommate has this observation:

Pete could just post the same MitDo* comicstrip for each Saturday... "Meanwhile, in the Dimension of Same" :kiki:

Maybe it's an intentional self-parody...?

How Evil.

I just kinda wish Trykya's eyes were smaller. Not the dinner plates....I HATE the dinner plates! But.....I can survive MitDo* it can have its moments.

(Of course, I just had a bad thought. Replace every reference of the show in todays strip with references to MitDo*. Not exactly nice, but gets a bit more milage outta the strip. Okay. I need to go back to lurking now.....)

personally i think ian's improved.

he's using his style of round eyes and what-not, but he's not overdoing it, like he was before.

so art-wise I don't mind it.

but ever since someone (probably bob) mentioned the whole DoP = regular earth on opposite day.

blah.

it just bugs me.

i thinkt hat's the big problem (for me) right now. stop with the human/demon similarities. :bunbun:

OK, who's the funny dude who changed my home page away from sluggy?

And for that matter, who else deleted my sluggy bookmark?

Then I remembered it was saturday - this happened before over Tryka-big-eyes. I was in fear Ian touched the sluggy prime universe and actually delayed reading sluggy to 6am - when I waked up from the flu and forgot it was saturday. The strip did nothing for my flu, I can tell you that!

It took me a while for rembering 'sluggy' takes two 'g' so I could find the site! Then *I* undid the homepage to sluggy myself (but kept a bookmark). There are things that shouldn't be surfed accidentally - got my little sister to cry all over the loss of Deplora's character depth!

Without sis I thought we were a poing short - she's not rating this. But it was three actually as gramps said he won't be a sluggite (give him a break, he only got to read from the last Ian to today's Ian) and Mom insisted we don't stay up late to read sluggy as a family and she bailed out! Sluggy is now read while she's asleep.

Well, the final rating was 2 kiki behind the couch and 0.1 poings out of a possible 4.

1 kiki poops for the "demons act just like humans with some words replaced or switched" stereotype. Won't this thing DIE already?? It had been done to death long before I was born in more comics that I can remember! And it's still a high school journal cartoon joke like it was the first time!

.5 kiki poops for Jerry Springer. We didn't knew who he was until we read about it in reactions - we're NOT watching that kind of show as it seem we're one "baser instinct" short of some other families. It was to us too obscure and dated of a reference, too badly done, too stereotypical, and "Jerry Stinger" has actually been done in the last Ian strip so it was bad then and it's worse now!

.5 kiki poops for null depth and "joke deficit disorder". Did you have your humor surgically removed when you were little or something??

The 0.1 poing is me, granted for effort rather than actual strip quality. This keeps you from the absolute zero which would be "OFF WITH IAN'S HEAD" where the caps are well deserved!

The effort I see is Ian's improvement on drawings. It used to be "tick off some readers greatly with exageration and occasionally confuse them with misplaced expressions" now it's "indifferent-bored at amateurish drawing" feel. We're not feeling emotionally connected to any character at all in it. On a good day, even your stickmen don't measure up to Pete's sticks for expressing emotions. Perhaps you should get some training if better imitating Pete's style is beyond your ability.

I still think you ought to go back and correct the Tryka-big eyes I mentionned last time (the "5 bucks on plorb" one - oh boy does that line brings back memory of the annoying confusion over Tryka!). In the words of Grandma who has seen only that strip: "why are her eyes big like that?". Exageration is one thing, but misplaced expressions are actually a nuisance to the comprehension of the strip - some people acquire a strong and persistent emotional anti-big-eyes bias as a result (I've seen it happen more than once and frankly it makes simple exageration elsewhere give negative gut-reactions that I and others would not otherwise get - even in non-sluggy comics).

P.S.: we're now out of the "becoming a defender of the nifty" thing due to the people with money dropping out. Perhaps I'll buy a T-shirt later when one I like comes out.
