I was going to do some homework that I need to turn in soon but I got distracted by good anime. I'm finding that rather annoying.

The stupid commercial for Deadspace in which various mothers are shocked and terrified by the terrible, awful violence in the game. Also, any other commercial that shows a parent (typically a mother) who is in awe/stupefied by a game console.

The moms in the Deadspace commercial DO look a little older. However, if the oldest mom is, say, 50, that means that she must have some idea how gaming works. Sure, she may not be seeped in gaming culture, but the lady probably had a controller in her hand at some point in the last 30 years. The younger the moms are, the stupider this commercial is. We're talking prime ages for exposure to the Mortal Kombat series, or Street Fighter, at ages when those games would have been "awesome" rather than "what is this terrible stuff?" And violence being a factor? Please. This is the generation that made Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien and the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre huge. Gorey flicks were all the rage in the late 70s. Don't hide your eyes, commercial mom, from something you soaked up not that long ago.

Of course, more sinful is the commercial featuring a dim mom in her mid 30s slowly learning the ins and outs of some Mario game on the DS. Right. You never played Mario Bros, child of the 80s.

In other words: commercials that pander to the idea of the superiority of youth can't work when the oldsters in the commercial were exposed to the same stuff in their own youth.

*sniff* I'm 30 and I can't play Mario. My mom got a Nintendo when we were kids and I never even made it past the first level, I just sucked that bad. My mom was brilliant at it, she finished the whole game.

The fact that our HIGH tomorrow is gonna be -2 (Fahrenheit). Yeah... the high. Without the windchill. And my poor Bluraven not only has to go to work in it, but part of his job entails being OUTSIDE :(

The fact that it was snowing here earlier, but didn't even get cold enough to be freezing down on street level before it went away. And people in other parts of the country selfishly complain about all their snow without throwing any my way.

Take it! Take it all! I don't want any of it! If you can take it, you can have it. Good riddance I say.

I'll take any cold weather I can get, it's not like the temperatures here can get more sub-zero.

Or maybe they can...

The cyclone is actually still off the coast up north from here.

It is only 28 degrees Celsius (82.4F) here today which makes for a refreshing change.

Hmm... I'm not sure. Get back to me with estimates of property damage and I'll let you know.

Ugh, so you're on the wet side, then. How close to the coast are you? Good luck, it looks like a nasty one.

Too late. People are being evacuated from Cairns and surrounding areas.

Well, people are being evacuated to here so you'd think that here is a good place to be. It seems quite huge though. Apparently it's a cat 4 but hopefully only at cat 3 by the time it hits land.
