Lyricdash!

Postby inspiration » Mon Feb 21, 2011 6:47 pm

Because I like new games but am uncreative!

Seriously, though, here's how it works: like Balderdash/Bookerdash, except that instead of a word or a book, the dasher will pick a song. They will provide two lines of the song (from anywhere in the song) and the title, artist, and genre. The players will write false versions of, and try to guess the real thing for, the next two lines of the song.

It's the perfect chance to dust off your collection of albums from bands that never made it big (so they're still cool!)

Anybody in?

Okay, let's do this! Players will be: inspy, Stan, Jorodryn, Steave, Solara, kitoba, CCC, and FH.

To keep things clicking along, dashers will set a submission/guess deadline of a few days (whatever works best with your schedule). Scoring is as follows: 2 points for finding the real lyrics, 1 point for anyone you fool into guessing your lyrics as real, 3 points if you're the dasher and no one picks the real lyrics.

Do you guys want to try to match players with fake lyrics, or do you want to do one game without that add-on and then see what you think?

For this round, the deadline for guesses will be by the end of the day Friday (I'll compile them sometime on Saturday afternoon).

Song: "Rachel"
Artist: Jim Ringer
Genre: Bluegrass

Lyrics:
Rachel was a watermelon
Ripe and freshly stole

PM me your submission for the next two lyrics! :kiki:

PM me your guess for which you think is the real one! (To keep things moving with so many people, we won't do the "guess who wrote which" on this game.)

Rachel was a watermelon
Ripe and freshly stole

And me I was a fisherman
with my fishin' pole

Sweeter than the sunshine
And inside just as cold

Rachel was a watermelon
Couldn't eat her whole

She was plucked from the vine
By hands as black as coal

I was just a fruit thief
No home and no bedroll

First girl that I ever loved
First lie that I told

To make her my girlfriend
Was my whole life's goal

Her green eyes sparkled brightly
And pierced into your soul

I think it's impressive that we managed to not have a single duplicated rhyme.

This is even tougher than Bookerdash! Are there points for correctly attributing fakes?

EDIT: Nevermind. Maybe I should try READING the posts.
