Ah-ha! You've all fallen for my subtle and brilliant strategy! Sure, I look like I'm a little behind now, but I've really been gathering data over several rounds... working out which combinations of letters garner the most votes... and for the next round I have crafted a brilliant response which will ganer every single vote, including votes from people who haven't played yet! Except my own vote, of course, I shall suddenly vote for the correct answer, catapulting myself to not second but FIRST place! Muahahahahaaaa!

...

Like that, you mean?

There I was, nervous and shy
Struck with awe as I caught her eye

The smile on her face
Just blew me away

It didn't matter what or why
If I didn't have her, I'd lay down and die

Her look lingered towards me.
To this day, I still don't know why.

After a moment I turned away
Too tongue-tied to know what to say

I mustered up courage and walked her way
Figuring out what to do, what to say.

She was young, I was too
Didn't expect to be her dream come true

She looked at me, she looked away;
I will never forget that day

Lost my breath until she turned away
Cursing myself to this very day

Strange that I never asked her to say
If she remembered it all the same way

Funny how many people had a similar rhyme. Especially considering it's different from the first lines.

That was... a surprisingly easy choice. Why does this worry me?

I think it's harder for people to guess the correct answer with lyricdash... that's another dasher getting full 3 points for no one guessing it. Inspy seems to be the ruler of the lyricdashing though. Look at that lead.

In any case, we're nearing the end of the thread. Am I the last, or are we going to try and squeeze one more out of it? If so, who's up?

We're all the way through the players so guess that'd be it. Congrats Insp. And a noteworthy attempt by ruan as latecomer overtaking three players.

I believe you were the last dasher, Ruan, which makes this the final score. BTW I actually like this song quite a lot --to tell the truth, I wasn't expecting to, based on the description.

Crap, I almost went for the real one. But I liked insp's better. :sam: I kind of had a feeling I was guessing hers...

Weird that so many of us had a rhyme so close to the real one. I think mine was actually the closest rhyme, and I'm sure I've never heard the song before.

As far as the overall game I'm surprised I ended up in second place! I was at the bottom for several rounds near the beginning...

Anyway, congrats on a well deserved victory, Mrs. Watkins.

I have an idea for a new __dash, but I'm going to save it until after the holidays.

Yeah, as I noted I was rather bemused by how many people picked similar rhymes, even to the point where the rhymes were actually the same as the song's. When I saw that happened I knew I had a pretty good chance of winning as the dasher, since you couldn't just pick it out because the rhyme was different.

As for Ayreon's music...

The album The Human Equation is just... good. Some more choice picks from that album...

Day 3 - Pain for some reason always pumps me up when I listen to it. It's Agony and Rage 'introducing' themselves to him in his coma, with Love coming at the very end telling him to not lose hope; that he can break out of their hold.

Day 12 - Trauma has one of the few times I really actually approve of black metal 'growl' style voice with Fear telling him he's better off dead, Agony, Passion, Reason dragging him through why he became what he did, and Pride telling him to go back to repressing his memories/emotions and thrive.

Day 16 - Loser deals with his relationship with his father (who's pretty much a complete and utter bastard). Instrumentals in that song are crazy but good.

---

And from another album, 01011001.

Age of Shadows, the opener of the album, has an advanced society invest increasingly in machines until the machines run everything, even their lives. Heck, listen to it and think of the Matrix - the song fits perfectly.

---

And for someone wanting to expand on their musical tastes... I considered using Jill Tracy's The Proof, Diablo Swing Orchestra's A Tap Dancer's Dilemma, Stolen Babies' Push Button, Flobot's Handlebars, Van Canto's The Mission, or Machinae Supremacy's Nova Prospekt.

...

You know, at some point, I need to just make a thread in General Chat where I go through all the bands I listen to. There's quite a few I'm fairly sure no one here on the boards have heard of.

Hey, I got another point! This 'meaningless bluster' idea actually works!

I have a new strategy!

I doubt it, we're probably going to do a completely different type of dashing next time it comes around.
