Well, that's the whole issue, isn't it? People who weren't filled with joy to see that hurdle jumped.

Plus, I think Michelle is "more black" in the minds of many than is her husband. She doesn't have the exotic parentage or childhood, nor the mixed-race background.

Yes, but those people are stupid and we shouldn't have to listen to them.

Then my work here is done.

I've never actually heard Australian Aborigines referred to by the N word.

The others, yes. There was a joke my step father used to say in reference to one if them. Thankfully he is more enlightened now.

It's easy enough to find if you just look for racist websites. As examples, see Chimpedia's The Aboriginal Nigger.

Added by edit: I kind of wish I hadn't bothered searching for that website, because it led me to uncover such gems as this, which has lowered my faith in humanity considerably.

It's not as common these days, but it certainly used to be, and there are certainly still people who use it in that context here.

Aaaand this is why I don't keep up to date with slurs. Being in that kind of company just makes me angry and (more) depressed. I'd rather have a happier outlook on life.

I wonder if I'm just lucky to not know people who behave like that or if as a result of my bad childhood I've simply surrounded myself with awesome people and cast off negative people before they can spout their garbage in my presence.

I think if you think like they think, you actively try to find these people. I think (hope!) most people aren't like this.

Usually you are in some subculture, and assume that its values are more widespread then they actually are.

Judging from Austrian election results and what people i know tell me, who they vote for, and who they never consider voting for, i must fraternize almost exclusivly with roughly 2-3% of the population
