I've been at work alone for the past 3 hours. I've done pretty much everything by myself save delivering inside the building which I should be doing in about half an hour. I haven't had anything to eat. I haven't had much to drink. I can't get a hold of my supervisor to find out why I'm still by myself. It's not the first time my co-worker has left for over an hour in the middle of the day either. I either need a new job or to somehow go back to the location I was before this one because this is getting ridiculous.

Note to self -- people working late shift at a 24 hr FedEx Office might be on late shift for a reason.

I'm not 100% sure this is the right thread but:

Who has two thumbs and just got fired (sort of)?

THIS GUY.

That's the "sort of" part. I'm a term employee - my position is funded for a specific period of time, and when the funding runs out, they either have to find new funding or terminate the position. So come June 30, when my current term runs out, they're choosing not to find new funding. It's the easy way to fire me without having to deal with all the HR policies the university has.

The little one has an ear infection. I had to leave work an hour early yesterday because his temperature suddenly spiked to 102 F and now he has trouble eating and sleeping. What a wonderful birthday weekend this is going to be...

Oh, it gets better. I will lose some accrued leave this month if I don't take it. Boss that fired me is, by policy, supposed to work with me to make sure that never happens. (I also don't get to keep all of it when I leave -they'll only pay me for a month's worth and I have half-again that - but the last time I tried to take leave he threw a hissy fit and wrote me up for it.)
