Teddy grins at Kinzie.

"Ha! Reselling the abbot's wine."

He holds up a hand to the elf. "Cloverleaf, hold on. We could go back and let the monks know. We have a dead swordsman, a near empty keg and this tunnel. Pretty decisive proof all told."

Cloverleaf gets nowhere trying to open this door. It occurs to him that these doors could well be enchanted to resist Knock spells (at least low level ones); a not unusual tactic when thieves often learn a low level spell or two.

"They might be able to move the evidence, but not all of it if we move quickly, and they certainly cannot move the tunnel. Let's go back to the monks," Kinzie concludes.

Cloverleaf shrugs, and abandons the door. "Well, if you both want to go back, then we'll go back." he says, conceding to the course of action with more votes. "Should we take any of the full barrels back with us?"

"I guess we could roll it. I don't think that's good for wine though. I could take the nearly empty one though."

"We'll take the empty one back," Kinzie concludes. "Let's move, boys. There's no time to waste."

She lets Teddy and the barrel lead the way.

Cloverleaf follows Kinzie, making sure to close the door leading from the basement on his way out.

Before Teddy hefts the barrel and heads back down the passage, he gestures towards the dead swordsman.

"We should bring him as well. As evidence."

Assuming that Teddy carries him...

The trip back to the wine cellar is uneventful. The turnoff near the middle is still there; but still unoccupied. When they arriv they find the same monk waiting for them. He takes in the sight of the three walking in with a barrel and a corpse and asks "Should I fetch the abbot?"

"Yes," Kinzie replies simply.

When the abbot shows up, she explains about the tunnel, the door, the fight, and the General Store.

"Please." adds Cloverleaf. He's happy to let Kinzie do the explanations, but courtesy is important when dealing with paying clients.

The abbot listens, examines the dead man briefly, then turns to one of the other monks who came in with him. "Sister Leslie, I think we should pay a visit to the Store. A dozen of us ought to be enough to pay our respects. Ah, and invite the Mayor." She nods: "Of course, Father. We'll leave at once."

As she heads out with one of the other brothers, the Abbot turns back to the three of you. "Could I trouble the three of you to escort Brother Forge here" he indicates a dwarf "to examine the tunnel and the writing at the other end?"

"Certainly." says Cloverleaf, leaving it ambiguous whether he means that he'll happily escort Brother Forge or whether it means that he thinks the request would certainly trouble him.

His actions, however, will resolve the ambiguity; he won't lead the way into the tunnel, but he will follow whoever does lead.

Teddy is smiling. He nods at Cloverleaf's words and heads off in the lead when the party and the monk head for the tunnel.

It is always nice to deal with intelligent people.
