Well thecowgoesmoo, you're a member now, but I almost didn't approve your post for making my job unnecessarily difficult.

The reason for the Intro Thread is now more to prevent any spam from ever showing up on the board than "introducing yourself". Unfortunately the original use is more of a byproduct now. Before this new use was implemented, the forum was inundated with lots of spam everyday. Actually, it still is, but none of the members see it now, except for the few that toil away in the background.

I know people wish they could just sign up and post immediately, but I think the tradeoffs are worth it to keep it spam free.

Oh, there is a tradition here for newcomers, but I'm guessing you don't want to be bothered by that rigmarole...

Welcome to the forum.

I was trying to be a bit more unique than the usual "Hi I'm new here" post and was aiming at not being too serious; I thought the self-referential bit (I'm not sure people who are passive-aggressive ever fess up to being so) and the bit about Riff would have been sufficed as a clue. I guess the hazard of being tongue-in-cheek is that sometimes you end up biting yourself! Was a little disappointed that the Morse was deciphered though =/

ah the power of the internets... now about some optional poetry, perhaps a morse coed haiku?

Welcome to the forums. As the person who would have had to decipher the morse code had Zill not, I appreciate the translation. My morse is sadly rusty. I would've had to have references open on my phone and jumped back and forth between.

So the tradition as you might have guessed is a pestering for poetry. Though there is not tradition to actually post poetry. Some do some don't.

If you were looking for indescipherable, you should have picked something harder like Navajo codtalking into morse. Though I have a few friends who could have helped us there. The Intel capabilities of Sluggites is vast.

I don't personally like the poetry pester tradition. But I do have a habit of unleashing rabid mutant cyborg-wolverines on new guests who use morse code. (ok, so its a pretty new tradition). Good luck, and welcome to the madhouse! :D

Oh! I wasn't disappointed that Zed had transliterated the Morse (I would be very disappointed if no one did) but rather that he left the plaintext in the open without so much as a spoiler tag.

As for poetry... I did recently pick up a book of Vogon soliloquies -- I don't suppose anyone would be interested in a bit of that?

Well we don't have spoiler tags on this site, but I have changed it so it is not as obvious. Though I would have thought the "here's the translation" would have been a clue that everything below is a spoiler.

Now as for the Vogon...I have a few decades to kill, so sure, why not.

I'm just going to throw myself out of the airlock to save some time.

I know that space is a vacuum but will that suffice?
