Wow.

Nearly 2 years later.

What can I say? I'm embarrassed, yes, but I miss this. I miss the boards, I miss the people, I miss writing most of all.

Leyline certainly got sidetracked... sheesh.

Long story short - I moved to Texas, I found the girl of my dreams, I got Married, we moved to California, I got in with a major game company and now I live in Redwood City and I realized that I missed this. Terribly.

So. Here's the deal. I want to run Leyline. I've been remembering Mobius, and Rei no Kai, and Tenmei and KK and Resonating Spirits... God RS... it has to be my biggest regret, ending that game. I don't want to end another without the story being complete, the saga being done. I find myself in a place where I don't have to MAKE time to write, but where I actually HAVE time to do it. In a stress free, drama free, wonderful home with a wifey that's very much encouraging me to do this.

Im here to see whose interested. I'm here to see who would play. Disregard (specally for anyone whose new) the previous parts of this thread as the game will get a thorough revamping and a new sign up thread when it gets rolling. In all honesty, I can work on this nightly to get the game running fast. 2 weeks min, maybe a little more depending on how in depth I go. Drawing for the game will be on the backburner for a bit, till I get unrusty and get a scanner, and may not happen for quite a while but... it's the writing I miss more.

If you want to get an idea of what Leyline will be like, go ahead and read through the old posts.

So who's still here?

Who's new?

Who's interested?

Post here or shoot me an IM.

Sounds Nifty, and I already have a character idea. Deus Ex Machina anyone?

Who are you, and why does it say I've posted in this thread before?

Just kidding, I'm still interested. I can't remember what my character idea was, but I'm sure I can come up with something that doesn't suck.

I've had this bookmarked since you poked me on IM way back when. ;-)

Glad to hear you're doing well and bringing this back! I'm still down if you'll have me.

Cheers and congrats on the wedding and job!

Well!

I would say this level of response merits a game ^_^

Alright.

Then plan is so, I'm going to try writing every night when I can, provided I don't work OT, the wife needs me, or I'm otherwise exhausted (we have a very angry bed that wishes to eat our spines - this will change soon). Once I've got enough of the basics made, I'll start posting a new sign up thread. I'm also going to plot out the game a ways.

The way it's going to work is... well, I won't spoil it entirely, but I will tell you that this will be far closer to a "choose your own adventure" book then my other games were. I have a plot in mind, and I'm going to follow it -- but based on the choices you all make as a group the path to get to the plot points will alter. Some paths will grant you allies, some paths enemies, and some will seem to do neither but end up effecting the game much further in.

The game will also be a lot freer in terms of people maybe needing to leave or take a hiatus, as well as adding new characters in. In RS I found myself caught when a character I had major plans for had to go and I was forced to NPC them. I'm not going to trap myself that way here.

I'm even implementing a death system in the game ^^

So for those of you who remember... beware the three eyed pink bunnies ^___^

That's all for now folks! I'll have an update on my status in a few days time.

Cheers!

What's this?

A few days time later and Im here with an update? IMPOSSIBRU!

Get used to it =P

So, I've been mulling ideas around and I wanted to get some player opinions before I start.

Normally I've posted big arse OOC threads with a crap-ton of information and novels worth of text to read to get players interested in a game and get characters made. Well, what I have in mind is a bit more interactive.

What I'd like to do is post some basic game information here -- IE: the setting, the world, a bit of history, a few character examples -- and allow you all to see what you'll be dealing with. Then? I start the game like so...

I will Roleplay character creation.

I will literally start a Classroom Thread, let anyone whose interested jump into the thread and RP a student. What I have in mind is private, remote connections where potential Arbiter Students can sit in on a class, ask questions, and interact with the game while remaining anonymous. This is a world where technology and magic are a fusion, so having a "blank slate" character to roleplay with is easy -- you're on a holographic connection that shows none of your features, lets you remained un-named, but still lets you interact with the classroom.

Basically you RP yourself learning about the world.

From there, as you learn about the game and ask questions, you get character ideas and flesh them out with me. You won't be role playing your character, not yet, but yourself as you build your character into what it will be for the game. I'll let my old players remove the rust and dust n get creative, and let my new players get used to my style before the game even starts. Here's an example of some questions you might ask while learning:

"Can I be a God of fire and wrath and explode things?"

"Yes you can, here's the system that will support it."

"How does magic work in this world?"

"Like so and so, etc, explanation that will really be RPd as it goes."

So, I roleplay the systems of the games to you, one bit at a time, while you ask questions and obtain your character ideas. At the end of it all, you get an "application" - or character sheet - that you fill out with your back story, powers, weapons, etc. I pick the top 7 (if there's that much interest), the others can keep reading and mayhaps be recurring villains or supporting characters later in - or replace characters that have to leave for whatever reason.

Roleplayed Sign up Thread.

Whose on board? Or would you rather it be the normal novella of info? Let me know what you'd prefer so I can start posting ^_^

A roleplayed sign up thread? That's a new, and novel, idea. I'd be interested to see how it works out.
