new book?

Postby pyro1588 » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:13 am

okay, so this probably isn't the first time this has been posted. even so...

i was browsing around the store when i glanced at book 9 (which i don't own yet.) i pulled up the comic and found that book 9 ended in october 2002. is there a reason we haven't had another book since 2002?

also, on a similar note, any hints as to when the next megatome is coming out?

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question, but comic-related threads do belong over in Sluggy Related Chat, so I'm going to move it over there. *forklift*

Basically Pete hasn't gotten around to organizing the next set of comics into books and getting them published. The books on the website correspond to books that actually exist in reality. Also, he just changed publishing styles; he used to publish smaller, black-and-white books and now he's publishing large, full color megatomes. Part of the delay was that when switching to megatome format he re-collected some of the previously published books and put several of them in each megatome.

I don't remember, is he still going to do the small books, or is he moving entirely to the megatome format? Or is it up to the publisher?

Personally, I'm hoping for hardcover ME-GAH-TOME number 2. Number 1 rocked, and I'd love to see it done again.

Partly the delay is because of switching format.
Sluggy switched publishers, and then the main focus was on re-releasing the first 6 books.

But mostly the delay is because Pete is terrible at getting admin work done =P

i heard somewhere that the delay was because since most sluggy stories are gigantic super archs nowadays with smaller-but-still-pretty-long arches in between, every book past this point will go directly to megatome

not sure when this was said or by whom, but hey, it makes just as much sense as everything else ive ever seen on sluggy

Um? From context, I can't tell if you're aware or not that the paperback is already out.

Either way, I figured I'd post the link for anyone else who needs to know.
